While laying in bed last night, I was thumbing through the West Elm catalog - and I found a MUST: doggie dessert plates!




I am going to get them asap. I think I am only going to get a set of 4 and hang them on my wall. Advice?

a really good weekend

This past weekend was a really good weekend. The only bad part is when I realize every Monday that I forgot to take pictures. Boo.

Friday night JP and I had reservations for the Haunted Ghost Tour in Downtown Franklin. We joined our friends Peter and Gina at 55 South, a delicious new restaurant in Franklin with horrible service, for dinner. The company was fun, the food was good, but the service was awful. We ended up having way too much fun at dinner, and Binks Outfitters beforehand, that we had to cancel our reservations for the Ghost Tour. This was our sencond time to cancel on them, and the ghost lady remembered my name from the last time I cancelled. I dont know if we will ever be allowed to do the Ghost Tour now.

After dinner we walked over to Sweet Cece's. There was an extra long line out the door, so we decided to head back to Peter and Gina's house for night swimming - which was SO FUN!!

Saturday morning, I ran some errands around Green Hills, including some good garage sales! I got a cute itsy bitsy mirror that one lady gave me for FREE! I went to another and got a painting for a whopping $10! The lady who was running the garage sale was the artist, so it was really neat to talk to her about it. I also ran into Perfect Pair to see if they had anything new - and the did :) I ended up purchasing these awesome new Frye flats:


My parents came over later in the afternoon to help me get a MILLION things done around the house: hang up curtains, hanging up everything on the walls, make a run to Home Depot, mount the massive mirror that I got at the Flea Market and hang a fan in my bedroom. My house feels much more like home now. I am so thankful (most of the time) to have my parents right down the street.

After we got so much accomplished, we had dinner at B&C BBQ in Melrose. Their chipolte corn salad is to die for!

After dinner, JP and I headed back to the house to start painting my bathroom. I decided on a crisp, clean white. While I painted the edges, JP painted with the roller and we got the first coat knocked out in 30 minutes - took a break to go to the new Sweet Cece's in Hillsboro Village - then went back home to do the second coat - total paint time: 1 hour. Done.

Sunday morning JP and I went to church, then headed back home so that he could nap and watch the World Cup final while I packed. Off to DC that afternoon. And work on Monday morning.

This weekend was a good one.

I really want this.

To go over the couch in my den. It's perfect. And I love the blue.

Dinner Party

So, I want to tell you about a fabulous dinner party I had at my house about a month ago - I know, I'm late blogging, as always.

JP and I had some dear friends over the night before we got engaged (well, he knew that, not me :)).

*Note: I only took a few pictures pre-party with my phone - I know, I still havent picked out the camera I want.



For the hors d'oeuvres, I just threw out some Carrs water crackers, baby swiss cheese and blackberries:



I purchased some delicious salmon at Whole Foods. I hate skin on my fish. Of course, everyone that works at Whole Foods is so helpful and accomodating that they cut all the skin off for me.

We seasoned it with olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice and some dill. It was SCRUMPTIOUS!



We also enjoyed orzo with olive oil, red balsalmic vinegar + dill. I also made my favorite new salad: Watermelon Feta Salad. Kaitlyn brought over her favorite (and now ours!) bread: Rosemary Peppercorn Bread - found at Publix.



Kaitlyn also made a delicious Paula Dean pear cobbler. Yummyyyy!! And she said it was eeezy peeezy! Thats my kind of meal!

3 churches

I think the worst part about wedding planning so far is finding the perfect church. All I want is a little white church that seats no more than 150 - and I'll even take 100. It's very time consuming, to say the least - and we are on a time crunch.

I have narrowed my options down to 3 churches - that I have yet to see the inside of.

*Note: They are in no particular order.

1. Johnson's Chapel United Methodist Church: This church has red doors with benches on each side. Its located in off of Granny White, behind Brentwood Academy.


2. Liberty United Methodist Church: This church is all white. Its a little off the beaten path, but it may be worth it. I love the fact that it was founded in 1807.


3. Fernvale Community Church: This church is out near Leiper's Fork, maybe even Fairview. Their original building was destroyed in the tornado a couple years ago and they have since rebuilt. I cant wait to check it out.


Does anyone else have any other recommendations or suggestions?

Who knows... We've really been leaning toward running off. I just want to marry him. That's all.

You had me at CRUELTY FREE

I found my new favorite cleaning products last night. I've always been a fan of strong cleaning chemicals and Gain laundry detergent... until i saw the "Cruelty Free" logo. I'm sold at no animal testing. And Martha Stewart? Who can beat the queen?

I got the laundry detergent - and I LOVE it. It a pump, so no measuring, spilling, etc. And it smells so good.


I also go the toilet bowl cleaner - and it smells so strong and CLEAN!


I didnt see any other MS Clean products at the Brentwood Publix, so I may have to navigate to Home Depot this weekend to stock up on the entire line :)
