Widdy Wednesday

The resemblance in mannerisms between Cash and squirrels never ceases to amaze me. When I am in DC, I get homesick watching squirrels. I know, I'm sick.

this is what i want our house to look like when we grow up:

THIS. have i mentioned that i want to be ashley anne campbell? i have a lot of DIY and photography skills to be working on if so...

a few copied photos:

just wait until you see her backsplash...

i love that she spray painted that old clock and the pots.

the best part of the house.

words of wisdom from ashley: she doesnt worry about the resale value of her home. she just makes home, home.

i want to be like that one day.

get to know me...

Jenny, whom i got the idea of "Widdy Wednesday's" from, posted a "getting to know you" post. Since today is Friday and I dont have anything creative to say, here you go:

1. What is your favorite store to shop at? At the moment, Anthropologie. But I love TJ Maxx, Dean & Deluca, Etsy and J. Crew.

2. What do you do for a living? government relations for both a Nashville firm and DC firm.

3. What state do you live in? Tennessee

4. Favorite color? I've always loved pink. Although I still have loyalty to the peony/ blush pink, but I'm all over the place now. Maybe gold?

5. Worst household chore? FLOORS. I hate mopping, swiffering, etc. Oh, and the shower, too.

6. What time do you go to bed/wake up? I am typically in bed by 10pm, but that hasnt been the case lately. In Nashville, I am up ay 6:30. In DC, I am up at 7am since I live literally across the street from work.

7. Favorite hobby? Snuggling with Cash? Can I count that? But I also love to read, craft, garden, scrapbook, paint, decorate and watch trashy tv.
8. What color are your toes painted? Cajun Shrimp, please!

9. Do you have kids/want kids? If so, how many? I do, eventually. Once JP gets through school. We want 2, maybe 3.

10. Do you have a blog, what is the link? Well, here. (redwhiteandbiz.blogspot.com)

Please share with me!

HONORARY widdy wednesday

I know its not Wednesday, but life has really ramped up the past couple weeks and I havent had much time to sleep, much less blog. So, below is my honorary widdy wednesday/ blanket/ burlap post:

JP got my my new FAVORITE blanket for my birthday - and it FINALLY came in the mail: a good ole' U S of A flag. Instead of the traditional flag colors, it is baby blue, pink and yellow. My mama says its sacreligious. Well, I am Miss Liberty and I ordained it beautiful!

My mama has also been busy stiching burlap lately, and she's finally done! She made me burlap curtains and a bedskirt (bedskirt not pictured). I love the way they make my room smell like hay :) My room is allllmostttt complete. All I need now is a ultra light blue coat of paint on the walls, something to hang over my bed, and bedside tables. Done and done - once I make it back to Ikea and have the time to paint.

This weekend is looking pretty good:
1. We are meeting at the church we plan to get married in on Saturday morning, and setting a DATE!
2. It's Bluegrass on the Harpeth weekend! Hopefully we can find a band to play at our reception.
3. It's flea market weekend!! I need to find lots of frames, furniture and trickets.
4. There is a Haslam event on Friday night that I am taking my parents to. Can't wait for them to meet our future governor.
I'm trying to make every drip of my time in Nashville worth it as I am only going to be here a grand total of 6 days in August - and my time is looking pretty good so far!

sit. stay. eat.

While laying in bed last night, I was thumbing through the West Elm catalog - and I found a MUST: doggie dessert plates!

I am going to get them asap. I think I am only going to get a set of 4 and hang them on my wall. Advice?

a really good weekend

This past weekend was a really good weekend. The only bad part is when I realize every Monday that I forgot to take pictures. Boo.

Friday night JP and I had reservations for the Haunted Ghost Tour in Downtown Franklin. We joined our friends Peter and Gina at 55 South, a delicious new restaurant in Franklin with horrible service, for dinner. The company was fun, the food was good, but the service was awful. We ended up having way too much fun at dinner, and Binks Outfitters beforehand, that we had to cancel our reservations for the Ghost Tour. This was our sencond time to cancel on them, and the ghost lady remembered my name from the last time I cancelled. I dont know if we will ever be allowed to do the Ghost Tour now.

After dinner we walked over to Sweet Cece's. There was an extra long line out the door, so we decided to head back to Peter and Gina's house for night swimming - which was SO FUN!!

Saturday morning, I ran some errands around Green Hills, including some good garage sales! I got a cute itsy bitsy mirror that one lady gave me for FREE! I went to another and got a painting for a whopping $10! The lady who was running the garage sale was the artist, so it was really neat to talk to her about it. I also ran into Perfect Pair to see if they had anything new - and the did :) I ended up purchasing these awesome new Frye flats:

My parents came over later in the afternoon to help me get a MILLION things done around the house: hang up curtains, hanging up everything on the walls, make a run to Home Depot, mount the massive mirror that I got at the Flea Market and hang a fan in my bedroom. My house feels much more like home now. I am so thankful (most of the time) to have my parents right down the street.

After we got so much accomplished, we had dinner at B&C BBQ in Melrose. Their chipolte corn salad is to die for!

After dinner, JP and I headed back to the house to start painting my bathroom. I decided on a crisp, clean white. While I painted the edges, JP painted with the roller and we got the first coat knocked out in 30 minutes - took a break to go to the new Sweet Cece's in Hillsboro Village - then went back home to do the second coat - total paint time: 1 hour. Done.

Sunday morning JP and I went to church, then headed back home so that he could nap and watch the World Cup final while I packed. Off to DC that afternoon. And work on Monday morning.

This weekend was a good one.

**I'll post photos of my new burlap curtains, bed skirt, garage sale finds, etc. when I'm back in Nashville next week.
